The chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Christopher Cox, communicated that he is “intrigued” by the idea of disseminating important corporate information via the use of corporate blogs. It appears that this dialogue primarily started when the CEO of Sun Microsystems, Inc.(Sun), Jonathan Schwartz, and Sun general counsel, Michael Dillon recently requested a clarification on Regulation FD to allow the use of corporate websites or blogs rather than or in addition to the use of press releases and operator assisted conference calls to disseminate material corporate information.
